Circular economy is more than recycling
Circular economy means more than just recycling. It is a holistic interdisciplinary approach that combines know-how about processes, technologies and materials. The focus is on long service life as well as repair, reuse and recovery. Waste prevention and reuse are the primary goals, ahead of recycling. The principle is particularly meaningful, as our products are designed to be recycled into a biological or technological cycle with over 99% of the total weight.
All our industrial valves are long-life products and follow the modular design principle. This is ensured from development through design and layout to application-specific design and material selection. In addition, our products are equipped with multi-part housings so that all components used can be separated by simple disassembly, easily separated in terms of material and sorted. No special tools are required for this.
In our own company
The high potential for circular economy is based on the functionality and properties of our products, as well as on the principles already implemented and the requirements of the market. For example, in the case of capital goods, long service life, freedom from maintenance and repairability are prerequisites and are an established part of our range of services. Thus, our B2B products have been durable and repairable for many years. As a product manufacturer, we act in this sense and have been implementing the circular economy principles for many decades.
For decades, the metal chips from our own production, rejects as well as the irreparable industrial valves have been collected by type and collected by the metal traders as well as recycled or recyclable.
With our customers
Independently of our own resources for reconditioning and repair, we have already qualified and authorized many specialist workshops of our customers in the chemical industry as well as the classic repair and maintenance companies for the proper and professional reconditioning of our industrial valves through appropriate theoretical and practical training over several decades.
Many of our customers in the chemical industry are responsible for recycling the industrial valves at the end of their life cycle. If the industrial valves are no longer repairable or if a repair / overhaul is no longer justifiable for economic reasons, they are dismantled and treated as follows. First, the industrial valves are rinsed and freed from the chemical material flows of their use. The contaminated plastic parts are disposed of as hazardous waste. All metallic parts are sorted according to their base material as well as collected by scrap material dealers and returned to the recycling economy. This practice is implemented by the internal specialist workshops.
In the chemical industry
The status quo is: Unfortunately, there is no uniformly organized and standardized take-back system throughout the industry. Regardless of the customers, who are responsible for recycling the industrial valves, the chemical industry shows little interest and initiative in this regard. Since the customers are the owners of the industrial valves, they also decide at the end of their life cycle whether and how they are returned to the circular economy.

Through efficient processes, waste prevention, repair, reuse, recovery, collection, separation, recycling and material recovery, the further promotion of the circular economy of industrial valves should reduce resource consumption.
Measures to promote the circular economy
To promote the recycling economy, we have now agreed on a cooperation with the company Rudolf Schuy GmbH & Co. KG a reliable and competent partner for the disposal of all common metals. The tailor-made logistics services, the reputation as a problem solver and the reliability have made the company Rudolf Schuy GmbH & Co. KG over decades to what they are today: one of the largest scrap metal trading companies in Germany. By using a range of the most modern metal analysis equipment, steel mills and foundries can be offered exactly the mix qualities and grade purities that are needed in each case, with letter and seal. Packages of plates are supplied in palletized form, the quality of which is individually checked and certified.

KG already has decades of experience in the disposal of scrap from the chemical industry and is also very familiar with the documentary and management system requirements and external audits there. Apart from various types of scrap, industrial valves are also disposed of properly and professionally and sorted by type.
